Somewhere between 2005-2009, I read a vampire YA novel (I don't think it was series) that ended on a somber implication that the main character was exhausted from holding back and no longer would. I recall almost nothing other than the final words of the novel, which were the vampire fixated on their uncontrollable thirst.
