Reading the first few chapters, I could not tell that she is a new author. I can definitely see growth. So far her writing style is in tune with the other new adult type books, first person point of view. I like how she goes back to the past and the diary is a nice touch as well. it makes this book different from the status quo. Chapter 1: My initial thoughts of Cassie..I can tell she's going to be a fun character. she isn't annoying... yet. lol. Ethan? Although he's dark and mysterious, I think he is also going to be fun, maybe more so in a dry humor type of way.
Chapter 2: The Grove auditions were very entertaining. I felt like I was there. I was able to imagine the scene and I've never been to an audition in my life. Zoe is the typical mean girl who thinks everyone owe her something. Cassie's personality seems to have changed from the auditions to the present day, she's more confident, strong, and outgoing. I think she found herself throughout the years. The exercise with Ethan was very intense. they both realized that there was some chemistry between them. It's cute that neither of them wanted to own up to it though.
Chapter 3: Ruby. I like Ruby for the same reason Cassie likes her. she's straight and to the point. You're never going to have to wonder what she's thinking. I have a feeling that she's going to be very tough with Cassie when it comes to Ethan. I for see some warnings. Conner, just like Zoe is the typical all american got throb who thinks he can get whatever he wants. I think he's going to ask Cassie out, but she is going to turn him down. in return, they are going to become good friends. He too is going to warn her about Ethan. The get to know you exercises were hilarious. the cutting, robbery, drug addictions were unpredictable and priceless... especially because Cassie had never experienced any of those things. This is the point too where Cassie and Ethan form some tour of unspeakable bond.

i really enjoyed this book and thought it was well written. I'm not a huge fan of flipping between the past and the present so often but she did it well. The only thing that i didn't like is that you don't find out what he did to her in this book which is frustrating!! looking forward to the next one..
I stink at doing group reads, especially when the book is really good. I can't wait and end up reading the whole book. I loved the book. It's dramatic, hot, and yet mysterious too. I loved how the book was told from both what was happening now and flashbacks. It's a great way to get a better perspective of everything that's happened to them. The only thing that could've made it better was if we had Ethan's point of view as well.
I liked Cassie. The present Cassie is level headed, guarded, snarky, but well put together. I was undecided on Ethan once it became clear he was the one who broke Cassie's heart.
I liked all the characters I met. It did bother me Cassie had two sides, but I also understood why she acted the way she did. She was coming from a small town with a sheltered upbringing and just wanted to be liked and to fit in. She was insecure about herself, when she didn't need to be.

Synopsis:
When Cassie Taylor met Ethan Holt at acting school, sparks flew. She was the good girl actress. He was the bad boy about campus. But one fated casting choice for Romeo and Juliet changed it all. Like the characters they were playing, Cassie and Ethan's romance seemed destined. Until he broke her heart and betrayed her trust. Now the A-list heartthrob is back in her life and turning her world around. One touch at a time.
Cast as romantic leads once again, they're forced to confront raw memories of the heartbreaking lows and pulse-pounding highs of their secret college affair. But they'll also discover that people who rub each other the wrong way often make the best sparks
