ABANDONED. Romance: travel through portals to get to different worlds

I'm looking for a book that was about a clan of shapeshifters. The book starts off with a group of three women looking for a planet to relocate their clan but they went in a gate that lead them to planet where the gate only worked once every couple months. And they were followed by a group of shapeshifters three men and to find out the leader of the shapeshifter group is mated with one of the women of the other group. They end up staying together on this planet for a couple of months. When they can leave they go to the shapeshifter planet.
I can't remember anything else that happened in the book please help me find the book.

I don't know if it was a Sci-fi book or not I now that they had to travel different gates to get to where they wanted to go. The females were looking for a place to relocate their people.

Don't recognize your book but I have a couple questions, did all three women get equal time in the book or did the story focus on one of them? What did the shapeshifters turn into?

Sounds a bit like something Kaitlyn O'Connor would write, Have you checked her books? Maybe The Portal?
