This book, all on its own, started me on a binge of reading writers' biographies. It's just a year or two out of Delany's life: out of high school, married to Marilyn Hacker, exploring other sexual relationships, writing SF, and having people over for dinner. For some reason, it's great.
If you want to read this, you might be able to find a used SFBC reprint cheaply. Also, it was re-issued by a university press at some point in an "unexpurgated" version. I've always had trouble figuring out what he could have left out, so I've always wanted to read it.
