As a kid, writing out goofy messages with SpaghettiOs was a fun pastime.
But one creator may have taken the childhood game too far. TikToker @tsj_electronics developed a script that determines how many cans of SpaghettiOs it would take to write any book.
He then used the technology to figure out how many cans of SpaghettiOs it would take to write the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
First, using real-life cans, he figured out the average distribution of each letter in a can of SpaghettiOs. Then, he plugged the data into his program.
Next, he figured out that the Lord of the Rings trilogy contained 2,261,081 letters, with the letter “E” appearing the most, at 12.4%. The program did the rest.
It takes 8,795 cans of SpaghettiOs to write the Lord of the Rings trilogy, according to @tsj_electronics. That would cost $12,225.05. But look on the bright side: You’d have about 8,134,609 SpaghettiOs letters leftover.
The hilarious video racked up 2.8 million views.
“This is what programming was meant for,” a person commented.
“Bro actually used math for something important in life,” another wrote.
“I really thought he was about to open enough cans and actually spell out the trilogy,” a user said.
“This is science,” a TikToker replied.
“This is more interesting than anything I learned in school,” someone added.
