That book Planet of the Apes was very different from any of the movies. A great twist at the end that wouldn't work on screen too.

Boulle’s version is an allegory about how the brutish masses are taking over everything and then reverting back to a segregated caste society. That doesn’t come across in Burton’s version.

(I thought the original Star Trek animated series was good at least storywise including a Larry Niven story in The Slaver Weapon)
I loved the original animated series, but my 1 complaint is all of the tribbles were the same color.
