I'm drifting over from Watership Down to wish you safe travels as we embark on this voyage of book exploration. My shipmates are tossing out recommendations for each other to use during our trip and I wanted to invite you to come aboard and have a look in this post , if you so desire. We promise not to let the bunnies attack!

BUT, in the spirit of team interaction, I would also like to invite each of you to drop by anytime to ask for specific recommendations for your favorite type of book or when you want something totally random to read!

Ive got yet another question too. Do we need to add our books to our wheel shelf once weve read it? or when we know we are going to read it?

Definitely after you've finished reading you should make sure it's on your wheel shelf. If not Lexi/I will remind you when we go through and double check things before logging books in for points.

But if you want to add them to the shelf when you start reading them that's fine too. I usually do it this way because if I don't, I forget to put it on my wheel shelf. And then Lexi will have to put me in captain time out ;)

Theres a free series on amazon (UK) called Xoe Meyers and its 3 books. I've downloaded it and hopefully will get round to it after my first read. Just incase anyone else is interested, its fantasy so not my usual cup of tea

It's was an okay read. She has a good group of friends and hot guys don't magically fix all their problems, so it has that going for it. And the first book set up some interesting questions that will likely develop over the later books.

It is silly fun and as long as you go in expecting the characters to act like the teenagers they are and not high literature, hopefully you'll enjoy it.

I have a question about characters when it comes to the spell it out.

I read a lot of historical romance and in a large number of them, characters will be referred to by their title. Should we treat their title as essentially a nickname?

For example here's a book I've already read but will demonstrate what I mean, Project Duchess. The love interest's name is Fletcher Pryde, Duke of Greycourt. In the book he is mostly referred to as Grey or Greycourt. In terms of the spell it our, can all three letters, F P & G be used?

I know titles like Inspector and the like aren't generally allowed in the spell it out, but in historical romance a lot of times characters will only be called by their titled name, so I wasn't sure if it could count as a nickname of sorts.

That's been allowed in the past I believe. As you said, you couldn't use D for Duke because that's his title, but you could use Greycourt if that's what everyone calls him.

I read a lot of historical romance too and honestly half the time for side male characters (even ones with larger roles in the story) you rarely find out their birth name anyway.

Yes, it's a major problem. Half the time when I'm reading HR for challenges I'm yelling at the book to tell me the character's actual names.

I know it's always frustrating when you have your previous books all read and don't want to start anything else before the challenge. Especially with the timing for you.

There is a positive though! You'll have until 10pm on the days the rounds end to finish your book for the given round

On that note, since we have some new to Wheel.

Only books started after the start of the challenge may be used. And books are used in the round within which they are finished.

This means:

If you start a book during round 1 but don't finish until round 2 it can be used in round 2's spelling (or in which ever round you finish the book).
