Team The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

I'm drifting over from Watership Down to wish you safe travels as we embark on this voyage of book exploration. My shipmates are tossing out recommendations for each other to use during our trip and I wanted to invite you to come aboard and have a look in this post , if you so desire. We promise not to let the bunnies attack!
BUT, in the spirit of team interaction, I would also like to invite each of you to drop by anytime to ask for specific recommendations for your favorite type of book or when you want something totally random to read!
If you happen to read a book our team recommended, please come back and let us know what you thought of it - good or bad!
Happy Travels and Happier Reading!

Definitely after you've finished reading you should make sure it's on your wheel shelf. If not Lexi/I will remind you when we go through and double check things before logging books in for points.
But if you want to add them to the shelf when you start reading them that's fine too. I usually do it this way because if I don't, I forget to put it on my wheel shelf. And then Lexi will have to put me in captain time out ;)

Perfect thanks. I'll add a few I know I want to read during the challenge then I know where I'm at when I finish one.

We've begun packing book recommendations in preparation for our Odyssey and will continue updating the list throughout the challenge.
Book Recommendations from Team Odyssey
Happy reading!

Hello and welcome to the team Beth!
As you look through things, let us know if you have any questions.
Also, if you have any book recommendations, I'll get them added to the team list for recommendation tasks.

For those looking for books that fit the recommendations from other team tasks, I have links to other teams in post 9 of this thread.
As other teams compile lists of recommendations, I'll up it.
But don't feel limited by those on that list. Feel free to pop into any team thread and ask for a recommendation. If you prefer a certain genre, Lexi and I can probably direct you to a team captain who we know reads it and can give you a good recommendation.

Where the Crawdads Sing So much better than I thought it would be. Loved it....
These Is My Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine, 1881-1901, Arizona Territories Started this and read entire series
Every Heart a Doorway Another series that surprised me with how much I liked it.

So it looks like we have our tags for first round. So don't need to concentrate on them....yes?
Yes, it looks like we have the 10 for round 1!
Great way to start the game.
Also, I was selected for DQs for the first BOM so extra points there!!

I'm flying around from Harry Potter to wish you all a safe, fun voyage through reading land. My witches and wizards are sharing recommendations for everyone to use during our voyage wanted to invite you all to take a look here and we would love it if you would come over and share your thoughts with us. No matter what if its good or bad we would like to hear your thoughts on the book you picked.
Happy Travels!

Thanks! I read the first in that series a few months ago because I needed an X for a different challenge. I didn't realize the next couple were also free.

Yeah it came as a box set all in one download, very handy! Whats it like?
Hi everyone!
I've ventured out from Middle Earth to invite you all round whenever you would like. It's never more than 5 minutes from a meal (speaking of which is it time for lunch yet...).
We've got a lovely selection of recommendations here to tempt you all and would love it if you stick around to tell us what you thought.

It's was an okay read. She has a good group of friends and hot guys don't magically fix all their problems, so it has that going for it. And the first book set up some interesting questions that will likely develop over the later books.
It is silly fun and as long as you go in expecting the characters to act like the teenagers they are and not high literature, hopefully you'll enjoy it.

I'm not good at planning my reading list, I usually just go with my mood. So let me know if we need anything

That sounds good! Until we close to the end of Round 1, things are really open to whatever strikes people's fancy.

Lindsay, I love Nimona. I read it when it was a webcomic and was so happy to see it become a book.

I read a lot of historical romance and in a large number of them, characters will be referred to by their title. Should we treat their title as essentially a nickname?
For example here's a book I've already read but will demonstrate what I mean, Project Duchess. The love interest's name is Fletcher Pryde, Duke of Greycourt. In the book he is mostly referred to as Grey or Greycourt. In terms of the spell it our, can all three letters, F P & G be used?
I know titles like Inspector and the like aren't generally allowed in the spell it out, but in historical romance a lot of times characters will only be called by their titled name, so I wasn't sure if it could count as a nickname of sorts.

That's been allowed in the past I believe. As you said, you couldn't use D for Duke because that's his title, but you could use Greycourt if that's what everyone calls him.
I read a lot of historical romance too and honestly half the time for side male characters (even ones with larger roles in the story) you rarely find out their birth name anyway.

Ok, great. I wasn't sure if it was challenges in this group that allowed that or if it was a different challenge group.

Yes, it's a major problem. Half the time when I'm reading HR for challenges I'm yelling at the book to tell me the character's actual names.

I know it's always frustrating when you have your previous books all read and don't want to start anything else before the challenge. Especially with the timing for you.
There is a positive though! You'll have until 10pm on the days the rounds end to finish your book for the given round

On that note, since we have some new to Wheel.
Only books started after the start of the challenge may be used. And books are used in the round within which they are finished.
This means:
If you start a book during round 1 but don't finish until round 2 it can be used in round 2's spelling (or in which ever round you finish the book).

Yes, it's great! I'm done work at 5, just in time to start reading.

Second, we as a team get up to 10 tags per a round. Every person gets their own task list and can use a task for every book they read as long as no task is used twice. If you have a book with a tag and a task, you get bonus points for both.
