Not A Chocolate Moose for Dinner, but that's a good guess!It was that sort of book, although I think the moose appeared more human-like. The other book you mentioned was pubbed way too late. Thanks so much for the suggestions.

Super, super vague details. I remember a children's joke book from the '80s, no later than about 1988. It was picture book format, so about 30 pages long. There was a moose on the cover. I think the moose was wearing a sweater, but don't quote me on that. That's about all I can recall. I searched for "moose" and "joke" in Worldcat, but nada came up.
