I read this around 1990, in a 5th grade reading textbook, I remember it as being an extraction from a longer story or novel. I think it was older then, maybe it was written in the 1960s or 70s?

I believe it might be set in Ireland or Scotland? A girl goes on a walk / hike and meets someone who she spends the day with someone. I think the person gives her a strawberry pie(?). When she gets home, the pie has disappeared and her Dad knows exactly where she has been, because the same thing happened to him when he was a kid. I think it is implied that the person the girl met was a faerie.

It could be? It's a fantasy like Brigadoon, where there is this magic or unexplained happenings in the highlands, but everything is like "normal" life. which makes me think it was set in Scotland or Ireland.

Maybe "Fog Magic" by Julia Sauer?The girl goes for a walk in the fog, finds a hidden village, but anything she takes back disappears. There is a point where her dad hints or reveals that he too has been there and had the same experience.
