Natasha was my choice for villain, not that I sussed it out from clues. Actually she was so OTT aristocratic, with her talk about peasants and little people, that I’d taken her for a fake, like Sophia. But she seemed likely based on the rule to watch out for characters who don’t seem to have any other reason to be in the story except tp be the murderer. Actually, I was hoping for the butler to do it, but much too obvious.

Patricia Cassese | 3 comments I love the country house setting and the murder on the doorstep. But this wasn't what I'd call a tight mystery. It had the requisite cast of characters but I just didn't connect with any of them, especially the Russian Countess, who was way over the top, even for an imposter. And I couldn't buy that Lennox, a war veteran, would pick up the gun and stand there with it in his hand. I remember saying, 'What?!' in my head at that scene!
But, all in all, with all that we're dealing with in the world, it was fun escapism to another, more gentle time.
