message 151: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (last edited May 12, 2015 11:11PM) (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Finished Bound by Flames (Night Prince, #3) by Jeaniene Frost I think everyone loved this book but me.

Oh well at least it was a loan.

Mate Bond (Shifters Unbound, #7) by Jennifer Ashley on the other hand was pretty good. It took a while for me to figure out the characters - I had no idea who they were but it was an interesting change of pace. Not sure I brought their bond though hokey I think.

I felt the same way.

LastBreath (last_breath) | 243 comments Has anyone else read Kresley Cole's, The Warlord Wants Forever?

For some reason it feels like I've missed a book, or series, somewhere. If I have do you know what it could be?

The Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark, #1) by Kresley Cole

I have never read it but it was released after she had written a few books I want to say it was shortly after Dreams of a Dark Warrior. So if it is not clicking skip it. I like the series but it does not always adhere to a normal timeline, especially in later books.

LastBreath (last_breath) | 243 comments Dawn wrote: "So if it is not clicking skip it. I like the series but it does not always adhere to a normal timeline, especially in later books. "

:-) good to know.

The four chapters were choppy and it moved so fast. One part there I had absolutely no idea what time period it was set in!

I'll keep at it for several more chapters and if it's still not making sense I'll shelve it for later.

message 164: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments It's pretty short, but does make more sense once you've read more of the series. Some of the valkyries talk about Myst's missing time and that's what they're talking about - and the mysterious vamp who has captured her heart.

From memory they both appear towards the end in A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole

LastBreath (last_breath) | 243 comments I'm thinking of starting in on Lora Leigh's Breeders series, but do I have to read them in order, or can they be read as standalones?

message 166: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) LastBreath wrote: "I'm thinking of starting in on Lora Leigh's Breeders series, but do I have to read them in order, or can they be read as standalones?"

There is an ongoing storyline that begins from the first book. Also characters from the early book appear in later books. So I would recommend reading in order.

message 167: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter, #4) by Nalini Singh and loved every minute. Dmitri is very swoonworthy!

I was actually surprised at how much his character grew on me. Singh is really skilled at drawing the intensity of the relationships between her characters.

I love Nalini Singh but this book was a miss for me.
Glad you liked it Lauren.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Dawn wrote: "I love Nalini Singh but this book was a miss for me."

I can totally understand why that can be. Dmitri can be vicious and cruel but I though that Singh did an excellent job outlining his back story and explaining why he is the way that he is. I also have a huge thing for the dark and tortured hero so he appealed to me on that level as well.

The one thing that it took me time to wrap my head around was (view spoiler), but I came to realize that given Dmitri's nature, it was the only way to go.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 127 comments Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3) by Marissa Meyer Finished up Cress.

Now I'm trying to figure out which adult book to read next.

message 174: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments So I should probably place this somewhere else but has anyone see the alpha showdown at the vampire book club?

http://vampirebookclub.net/alpha-show...

I think they are on Wrath vs Mad Rogan (Wrath won that one) and Kaleb vs Curran. Ilona is awesome they are there twice. But I must admit I like both Kaleb and Curran who to choose?

message 175: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments Curran!

I'm only up through chapter ten, which is the first 93 pages or so, and so far it's been okay. It's not wowing me or anything yet. I can easily set it aside to do other things so it's not that feeling of needing to read just a few more pages to see what happens.

message 185: by Angie (new)

Angie | 419 comments I'm finally getting around to reading Dark Heir (Jane Yellowrock, #9) by Faith Hunter . I preordered it, so I've had it since it came out, but I kept getting distracted by other stuff. I'm at 36% on my kindle (page 126 of 364), so there's only a couple big events. Of course it's a great read, going by way too fast! I love this series!!

At the moment "Spell Blind" by David B. Coe A Urban Fantasy published by Baen. Very good writing and well thought out world. Well done David.

L.E. Doggett (ldwriter2) | 24 comments And I am also reading Seanan McGuire's "Midnight Blue Light Special" book two of her InCrptid series.

Seanan is a Very Good Writer and even though these are decidedly different from her Daya series they are still a good fun trip for readers. A bit lighthearted in spots but hang on while you read them.

I just finished The Mermaids Singing (Tony Hill & Carol Jordan, #1) by Val McDermid - had to google some torture devices that now I wish I didn't know about, lol - and now I've moved on to The Wire In The Blood (Tony Hill & Carol Jordan, #2) by Val McDermid .
