I liked it - but, it did take a while for things to get started as sh told some of the back stories.

message 853: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Finished A Certain Wolfish Charm (Westfield Wolves, #1) by Lydia Dare this was a nice break from typical PNR and it is also a historical romance to boot.

Wow book 8 already! Time flies I remember when that series was new

Jenn | 65 comments I'm reading Alive at Sunset (Rituals of the Night, #2) by Kayla Krantz , it's book 2 of the Rituals of the Night series. It's a bit of a dark series but it's one of those series where you just have to keep reading to find out what happens.

message 857: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Reading Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampire, #1) by Larissa Ione and listening to No Humans Involved (Women of the Otherworld, #7) by Kelley Armstrong

Both pretty good so far.

so far so good

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I finished The Beautiful Ashes it was cute but not great and the couple reminded me of a wanna be Cat and Bones.

message 860: by Anne (new)

Anne | 318 comments I just finished Eleventh Grave in Moonlight (Charley Davidson, #11) by Darynda Jones - great fun and more to come.

I am now going to read Etched in Bone (The Others, #5) by Anne Bishop . This has been a fabulous, and completely different kind of series - very sad to see it end.

She's spinning the series off in the same world, so not a complete loss. After reading this one I'm excited to see where she takes things next.

I had no idea this was the last book.

I could see that the last book felt like she was adding a bunch of new characters for potentially interesting stories

message 868: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments I haven't read the latest one yet, kindle wants $20 for it :( and the paperback doesn't come out for a year :(

The kindle edition of Marked in Flesh was a much more reasonable price and I bought the paperback when it came out as well.

Didn't one of the Police have connections to the other continent, or maybe it was 2 of them?

message 869: by [deleted user] (new)

I started Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson, #10) by Patricia Briggs and I'm trying to go slow. Also started Chicks Kick Butt by Rachel Caine since I only read one story out of it when I got it. It's time to read them all!

message 870: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Sandra wrote: "..Didn't one of the Police have connections to the other continent, or maybe it was 2 of them?"

Yes two of them do.

These are slow to come out in paperback. The last one I bit the bullet and purchased the book straight away.

Side note this cover looks different like even though it is still a lady she looks strange thinner. I wonder if they changed artists.

message 871: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments Possibly, her neck looks a lot longer. Just grabbed my pb of Marked in Flesh to check.

Agreed and I think the face looks a bit thinner.

Thethriftybooklady (readingdiva8511) | 109 comments Finally finished The Turn (The Hollows #0.1) by Kim Harrison ladt night not quite what I was expecting abd although I liked it it was a bit slow and my work schedule and mom life got in the way of me reading so it took me awhile. But now I'm getting to start Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson, #10) by Patricia Briggs super excited about that.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Finished Runaway Vampire (Argeneau, #23) by Lynsay Sands I love that the heroine was in her 60s!

I also finished The Clockwork Wolf (Disenchanted & Co., #2) by Lynn Viehl I was bummed because I wanted to read the next one and there was no next one :-(

The last one I finished was Force of Temptation (The Mercury Pack, #2) by Suzanne Wright cute book but they are starting to feel repetitive or formulaic

message 876: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Reading Into the Fire (Night Prince, #4) by Jeaniene Frost it is not really holding my attention. Everyone seems like they are doing way to much. Vlad is out of control he has killed like ten people maybe more and Ian is very shady which may be a bit of a memory lapse. This book is due next week so I want to finish it but maybe it is time for a break up

Next up will be Etched in Bone and Wake A Sleeping Tiger

Will do. I have to be honest though I was disappointed that it was not Cassie's book.

Try audio books, then you can "read" and sew at the same time.

I wish! I struggle to pay attention to audio books. There have only been 2 in the last year that I truly listened to. One of them was Lemony Snicket read by Tim Curry. I could listen to him read just about anything. :) Maybe I'll try again, there must be other great narrators, right?

message 884: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I do have narrators that I love and will purposely not read the book, but wait to listen to them.

message 885: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Agreed Darcy like I have not picked up a Molly Harper book in ages because I prefer Amanda Ronconi on audio. Same with The Dresden Files, I just like the narrator James ...I forget his last name

Those are must listen to books. Also, the narrator of the Kate Daniels books. I've actually sought out books she read that weren't from Andrews.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Darcy wrote: "I just finished Wake a Sleeping Tiger, interested to see what you think of it..."

It was completely lack luster (view spoiler)

I find that the story arches are not connecting well like how much time has passed? think I start reading this series in like 2009 or 2010 and then it was like Cassies book is coming...seven years later I am starting not to care. The other things is what happened to the old guard like Aiden, Callan and Faith even Jonas is missing.
But back to the point are Callans kids grown yet?

Lots of things could be happening but it is the same story just swap out the name. Disappointing.

As soon as you said Cassie, I knew which series you were referring to. And its just ridiculous that we're still waiting on Cassie's book. I obviously haven't read the new one yet, but are you serious about your spoiler? Even more ridiculous if that's so.

Sadly we are serious about the spoiler. It seems like a way to muddy the waters more.

message 894: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I wonder if she is trying to make it to book 35.

message 895: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments Well, we have to wait quite a while between books, so you would at least think she'd do a good job :(

Cause I'm pretty sure all those other Seal type books would be pretty formulaic.

I totally agree!!

I wonder if she is sick of it. I am quite sure she never thought she would go from those initial books with Elloras Cave to hard cover publishing with Berkly.

I still think Charlene Harris hated Sookie towards the end.

The funny thing is I really want her to do better. I mean she is the first author for me who blended erotica and shifters with a plot. I want her to create something different and heck just get a plot.

The early books were good. It seems like around #20-22 things started to go down hill.

message 898: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments Some of the books were outstanding. All the feels.

And totally agree about Sookie, the ending couple of books were just meh.

Ditto! I'm skipping the books until Cassie's. I'm simply not interested in any other character.

It is like Maya Banks and Sean and Rusty's book. I cannot wade through the rubbish while waiting for the substance. My only hope is that it is worth the wait.
