I read this some time ago. It starts off very good, but ends too quiet.

Started this rather late, but it´s easy to read so far.

I read this some time ago. Very relatable in our time. I loved the addition of magical realism via the portals representing open borders. I felt he portrayed the fear for both the refugees and the current citizens well. Although I didn’t wholly connect with the book it’s a valuable story I suggest everyone should read.

Finished this today, and don´t quite know what to think of it. Perhaps I should think of it as a tale. (view spoiler)[Wonder if the agression in the "safe" countries and the drones etc. showed the uncertainty of the refugees who move from one country to another, never being safe. That the couple split up, wasn´t very obvious to me either, except when it perhaps shows the personal emotional troubles of refugees amongst each other. LA finally seems to be the right place for them, which seemed to me very idealistic. (hide spoiler)] On the whole I thought the life of refugees was too harmless in its description, and too many themes were put into it (view spoiler)[including not only refugees, love relationship, family, religion, but also queerness and others (hide spoiler)] Also didn´t quite get the meaning of the interspersed stories of people all over the world.
