Annoying Cliffhanger or Favorite Character Death?

Would you rather read a book with an annoying cliffhanger or one where your favorite character is killed off?

Annoying cliffhanger definitely. As much as i hate them they're better than the death of a favourite character

Favorite character death, if and only if it furthers the story in a meaningful way and is well written. Without deaths, stories can often feel cheap. I'll certainly hate the character death but if, in the long run, it improves the quality of the narrative I'd much rather have a character die then have an annoying cliffhanger.
