Hey guys! I have just finished reading the book. I am sure I would have finished it a lot earlier if I wasn’t preoccupied with my work.

I love the book so much. It is worth the hype. I would give it 4.5 stars. I am giving half a star less because when I reached the middle of the book, I felt some 50-to pages were a little dragged.

But overall, it is such a beautiful retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I am really excited to read the second book next month.

What do you guys think about the book? What did you like the most about the book? Eagerly waiting to hear your thoughts.

Just started it today! As soon as I read that the girl was from Washington DC I was like WHat???? and was hooked. Love that element!

I was happy to see the change in the prince and that he started feeding his people and listening to Harper more. Overall I thought it was a unique retelling. I liked that the creature changes every season. I liked that her brother and his boyfriend got brought over to the kingdom-wasn't expecting that and I was surprised at the ending that Grey is "the halfling" but sad that he's scared to return to the palace. Excited to read the next one for sure! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I didn’t like the fact that the creature was so easily pacified by Harper. I agree that Rhen fell in love with Harper, but I felt that aspect in the story was so easy. The creature couldn’t be calmed by his entire family as well as Grey but Harper could do it that easily was something that didn’t strike me well. (hide spoiler)]

Yes you're so right that is a weird inconsistency that Harper could calm the monster but his own family and best friend couldn't lol (hide spoiler)]

That was my biggest problem with the book!

(view spoiler)[ But I really loved the way Harper is portrayed. She just felt like any ordinary girl. This is something that I connected to. It felt very natural how she behaved when she was stuck in Emberfall. Moreover, the fact that she is taking her I even to fall for Rhen is something that I liked.
Grey being the hafling is something that I didn’t see coming for sure. (hide spoiler)]

I am really excited to read the second book.

Yes you're so right about Harper and how she acted in Emberfall and towards Rhen and her thoughts and feelings towards Rhen. It does make it more believable. And yes I agree about Grey, I didn't see that coming either. But like I said in my other comment I don't think he should stay away from the castle because of that but oh well lol (hide spoiler)]
