The blurb give some basics, but basically this is a horror book. Had I realized what this really was, I wouldn't have started it. However, if you like horror novels, this might be up your alley. The set up is that Nolan, the star of a Youtube video series called The Anomaly, and his crew are going to look for a mysterious cave in the Grand Canyon that appears in articles from about a hundred years ago. They have been promised money to move themselves up to a cable series by a foundation who sends along a representative to go with them because they are excited by what Nolan et al discover.
Well, the cat's out of the bag by the fact that this is a horror novel, they don't find something you'd want your kids to read about. That said, at least one GR review said there was only one scene that was remotely scary, but horror to me isn't so much about whether or not I am afraid, but whether or not there are some horror elements in it. I don't watch horror movies, not because they make me frightened, but because if I actually watch those parts I'll get nightmares even if the movie didn't scare me.
