Busy | 65 comments I scribbled down "S of D" on a notepad at work today to include in my reading challenge list and for the life of me can't remember what the heck it is! Its not a George RR Martin book. Pretty sure it was a fiction book, not a graphic novel.

Secondly, there is this popular medieval type fantasy book written in maybe the 80's or 90's that my friend let me borrow. It was very long and probably part of a series. All I can remember is in the beginning they are walking through the woods (not LOTH ha!) with a horse and there is a archer and a prophecy I think? I gave it away after not picking it up again for years but have heard good things- but can't place the name!

misplacedselchie | 347 comments I can think of a few series for the second. Eye of the World by Robert Jordan and Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind jump first to mind. As to the first...S of D. Hmmm I must think on this one...do you remember anything else about it?

I tried googling for the second and I came across The Archers Tale. Wish I could help...

Jessica (jollybookshelf) I don't think I can help you, but it certainly seems like a riddle. Hmm. Hopefully some other members can help you!

South of Darkness
Sea of Death (there are several books with this title)
Sword of Damocles (same)

Maybe we could do a game with the "I give you the summary of a well known book, tell me the title" ;)

misplacedselchie | 347 comments Ooh Zaz that sounds like a fun game to me! :D

Busy | 65 comments Thanks for your help! I have definitely found out what the books not, which is helpful. I remember it being embarrassingly named for someone who at the time didn't read fantasy, it came out in the 80's or 90's (or possibly 70's) and was really popular when it came out and still having a fan base now, part of a series, I am pretty darn sure it was by a female author, and it wasn't one of the following things: Terry Prachett, Mists of Avalon, Anne McCafferty (although her book covers looked similar), Outlander, and maybe it wasn't EXACTLY set in medieval times? I am 90% sure the paperback cover had a man, a woman and a horse on it.
S of D did not have a "of" in it, looking through my note. It was just S o D. So many S on D? S out D? Still have no idea.
And yes I would love to play that game too!

Busy | 65 comments WAIT A MINUTE I think it was Wizard's First Rule! Terry can be a woman's name, and a guy goes into the forest. And as anyone who knows the Ice King can attest, wizards can be embarrassing. I am pretty sure that was it.

misplacedselchie | 347 comments And the cover does have a man, a woman and a forest! No horse though lol. What do you mean by embarrassing?

I am still stumped by the S o D one...hmm
