I remember reading this around 2005-2010, it’s a really nicely illustrated children’s book, but it’s quite long so a more sophisticated children’s book. I remember a creature (I think it was a squirrel but not sure) as the main character going on a journey through the sky to try and find a friend/love that he lost. I also think I remember illustrations of hot air baloons.
