I'm looking for a book (what else?) that was in my grandparents' collection; I think it was purchased for my aunt (possibly one of their other children) so it would have been published sometime between 1935 and 1955, probably mid-range.
All I remember now is that it was about a boy, approximately twelve, who found a lost whippet. The dog turns out to be a lost racing dog, possibly stolen, and is named "Stardust" (nicknamed 'Dusty').

Thanks in advance,
