So I am trying to remember the name of this book I read a few years ago and I'm very sure that it was categorized as a romance. Anyway, here is as much of the plot as I can remember:

So a female writer was following a story or trying to investigate the criminal underbelly so she visits this dodgy alley/street. Then she either gets in trouble or stumbles across trouble and meets a guy who either saves her or she saves (sorry I can't remember which but I am more inclined to say she saves him). Anyway he gets injured and she bandages him up and somehow finds out that he runs this super famous place that houses all the vices (prostitution, gambling etc.) and so she asks him to let her talk to the prostitutes that work for him. She becomes a regular visitor and everyone really likes her. I think they fall in love. Then she sneaks into one of the parties which was a masquerade ball or something of the sort. He gets angry and scared for her safety so he finds her and they... Throughout he's sort of been having some problems with gangsters/bad people, and when he gets threatened by them and leaves the place he owns to discuss matters with them or something. Anyway, they burn down the place and he thinks she is still in it but it turns out she isn't. Then there's an epilogue where they are married and have a daughter (I think). I have been searching for this book for a while now and so far nothing so I would really appreciate your help!

Thank you!
