And most importantly, targeryans have a fault in their bloodline. Many targeryans go mad. They have no control over it. Thats why the rebellion started. (hide spoiler)]

I agree with Smitha about Viserys.

(view spoiler)[he was a fool and coward too. In his all eagerness to reclaim the Iron throne he forgot that people don't follow a vain and stupid leader or may be he never acknowledged this fact. People follow a brave warrior who is clever and equally courageous leader. Just because he was the last man from the dragon line did not gave him access to all these traits. Dany was aware of all the things that people said behind his back and if was paying more attention and be a little patient he could have Drogo's army to win the iron throne but he was an impatient oaf who in the end got what he deserved. One of the speciality of this series is how the reader is convinced to change one's opinion of a character as the story moves on. I remember when I 1st read A Game of Thrones there were some characters whom I absolutely hated and would have had them dead rather than read anymore about them! But by A Storm of Swords these same characters got their own POV's and I kinda felt sympathetic towards them. By the later books I was absolutely in love with these characters. The point is can I forgive them for the parts they played in in the initial books for which I hated them? NO! But I cannot now absolutely hate them cause I know how they saw things…

Coming to Viserys on the same matter. Sadly Viserys doesn’t make it that far in the book to give us his part of the story. Let’s see the story from Viserys eyes. A prince with a riches to rags storyline. He saw his whole family, his race, murdered. Exiled from his own land. He had to survive on the streets of an unknown place where people wouldn’t treat him with the respect he once held. From prince to beggar he became. He had a harsh life, that’s what I’m saying. In no way does it justify what he does to Dany but he was only dreaming of return to his land(along with his sister) of which he was the rightful King now. He does get what he deserves as far as Dany’s storyline is concerned. But you can’t blame the dude completely, he had a very tough life! :P

(view spoiler)[ He has been on the run since he was 5. Everywhere he went people laughed at him used him hunted him. Thats why he is so eager to get the iron throne. And people are eager to praise him and lead him astray like Illos. They use him for their own plans

And like I said, paranoia and Madness run in the targeryan line. He cant help it. He is afraid of his sister and thinks she plots against him. His father Aegon was so paranoid he didnt trust his own son Rhaegar. Soon he went complelty mad and started Roberts Rebellion. (hide spoiler)]

To me it was Joff, who I feel had the most cruel streak in him.
Most of the Lannisters were pretty bad, but were more of opportunistic and shrewd rather than plain sadistic.

I kind of liked Robert for fighting the Targeryans. It was fascinating because Tageryans were the masters of Dragons and it was Robert's good luck that they had ceased to exist at the time of Robert's rebellion. I don't think Robert would have any chance at the Iron Throne if Dragons were still there.

But still he fought bravely and was the rightful owner of the Iron Throne.

No war had a happy ending either for losing side or for winning side. And thats what exactly happened here too. Targeryans were slaughtered not even children were spared. & Robert lost Lyanna, his true love. I think to some extent what happened to Robert and Ned was a repercussion of Lyanna's death.

Whereas Starks confined themselves to cold mountains of North, Lannisters emerged as the most powerful and influential house in south.

Daenerys, Cersei are my favourite so far.
Hodor seems an abacadabra like word, rather than a person's name.

I finished "A Dance with Dragons" last week and now am asking myself why I started a series with two books yet to come. I just cant bear to think that it would be at least 2 years before I get my hands on Winds of Winter. I have thought that I have read some good books,but this series made me rethink. It is like reaching the top of a mountain. Reading other books will only be going downhill. The plot is amazing, the characters are unforgetable and the pace of the story is breath taking. No fantasy reader is truly a reader until he has read grrm.

This book series is the reason I started reading fantasy books. After reading a dance with the Dragon, which was a major cliffhanger, I found out that the next book in the series doesn't have a release date yet.
After spending more time in official forum, reading many fan theories, I found out it might take two Years or more to release. It left me heart broken, now I read other fantasy books to ease the pain.
