I have finally caught up with GRRM on this! Though it did take me about 3 years to read the five books.

One piece of advice for starters, never EVER deeply discuss this series with someone who is ahead of you, especially with someone who's reading the sequels. They definitely know something you don't.

Spoilers are the worst things that could happen to you while reading this series.

Oh that is so true actually!
This series is more like 1 book split into 8 parts rather than being an 8 book series. So people who have read the whole thing may have a hard time remembering what happened in which book; so really have to be careful there :P

If was not completely cersei's fault. Robert loved only one woman in his life and that was not cersei

But where there emwere only stories about dragons and they're the thing of past it was a surprise that they are no longer a tale only. They are the reality now. And now I really want to know how they're going to effect this game of throne.

2. Another thing that Starks knew only exists in tale came alive. And there was so much mystery about them in this book. How can they come alive? How they got to be so powerful? What they want? And how they are created? I want answers to these questions. (hide spoiler)]

3) Tywin is not an evil man. He's a practical man who does not hesitate to do things to protect his family. He is no more evil than a dozen others characters. There are very few evil men in the book. Rest are just opportunistic.

4) GRRM said that initially he didn't have dragons in his book at all but later someone convinced him to add them :)
Dragons are how Targeryans ruled westros. With only 3 dragons they conquered the entire westros. All 6 kingdoms, although they could not defeat the seventh.

So dragons are an important factor, you will see later :)

5) Wights are created by others. No idea how or what others are. That is supposed to be revealed in book 6 if he ever actually releases it. Personally I loved it. The whole concept and the lore. They had come before about 8000 years ago when the wall was built by the starks. But they have passed into legend in the current time and everyone thinks they are just tails. Only the north even remembers them. I don't think andals ever fought them. That's why the stories only exist in the north. (hide spoiler)]

Both questions are impossible to answer by only reading A Game of Thrones as we are just introduced with the Dragons and the Others in this volume. But as the story moves along we learn much more. You just have to wait and read :P

It's not in any book. It's more like trivia spread out in little pieces throughout the series. No specific appearance.

Technically speaking it is mostly unrelated to the storyline of ASoIaF so it wouldn't spoil anything for you whenever you read it.
But of course reading it after the main series is most logical.
