This contains SPOILERS on the entire book!

SPOILERS!!!!

What did you think of The False Prince? Did you enjoy it and what did you rate it? Did you find the plot twists predictable or did they surprise you? Are you planning on continuing the series?

Here's my review on the book:
This book was such a treat to read and I am so glad I started 2015 with it! I really enjoyed the characters and I just had a lot of fun while reading it. Although this book is located in the YA section in Barnes & Noble, I definitely think it has a middle grade feel to it. I think some readers will have problems with the lack of world building and the novel being rather predictable, but I was enjoying myself so much while reading it that these things didn't matter to me. Great characters, great dialogue, so much fun!

Overall I very much enjoyed this and gave it 5/5 stars! I absolutely loved this book even though I saw pretty much every plot twist coming. It was just so much fun and I can't wait to continue the series!

Angela Cook THIS COMMENT ALSO CONTAINS SPOILERS.

I just finished the book and I was completely blown away by how great it was. I saw a lot of the twists coming but I didn't see it coming that Sage was actually Jaron like, for real. I am SO glad I read this book and I can't wait to pick up the rest of the series.

5/5

message 3: by Christina (new) - added it

Christina Pilkington Hi! I'm going to paste my review I just put up on GR below. I think I might have the unpopular opinion here, though! But I have to be honest with how I felt.

Maybe it was because of the hype this book received and maybe it was because I had heard this book had a mind-blowing twist at the end, but the book didn't live up to my expectations.

Not that it wasn't an enjoyable read. I liked the main character's perspective; he has a subtly snarky and witty personality. The writing is fast-paced as well as the plot. The ending, although very predictable for me with all the obvious foreshadowing throughout the beginning of the book, was still entertaining. I always had a sense of wanting to know what would happen next - even if that usually meant already predicting what would happen next.

I found the world building incredibly lacking. This might not effect many readers, but I love rich details about the world and environment in my book so I can fully visualize it while I'm reading. We hardly got any of that in this book. The characters and dialogue were fun to read, but besides learning about the main character, we know very little about the secondary characters in this book. This is the first book of a trilogy, so maybe that will be expanded upon in further books, but for this book it was sorely lacking.

Maybe I'm judging this too harshly because it is a middle grade/young adult novel, but I've read books such as Finnikin of the Rock (which is a example of gorgeous, atmospheric writing and rich characters) which blew me away for being a YA novel. This book was just average compared to them so I needed to give this book 3.5 stars. I would like to see what happens in the rest of the trilogy, but it won't be high on my TBR list.
