I didn't really like the book. The plot didn't interest me. And I didn't really like the main characters.

I went ahead and got this, but I'm quite nervous after seeing so many poor reviews...I just hope that I'll be my usual, absurd self and like it in spite of/because of it's flaws! In any case, I need to stop guessing whether or not I'll enjoy these books and start actually READING them, huh? =P

I agree with Jess and Myriam. I read it when it first came out and I don't remember anything which proves that I didn't find it interesting. I usually remember at least something from a book I've read. If I re-read it now (which I might do) it would be like a book that I've never read.

I'm liking it but I tend to like almost anything. (view spoiler)[I did think it was stupid that they talked about how wonderful and long they made their lives and then they just kill everyone off at 80? That really made me mad because my grandma is almost 94 and she's 10 times more productive that I am! That whole "aberration" system is insane too. I actually feel a bit like I'm re-reading a sort of kiddie version of Delirium crossed somehow with a dash of The Giver. (hide spoiler)]Of course, having read many similar books in just the last year, I'll be surprised if what I guessed was going to happen before I ever even started reading it doesn't prove to be true.

Yea that's what's bugging me with most Dystopian novels, the new fad, is that they are all the same! Just like the zombie fad here a while back, everyone had a zombie book, but no one would write anything original!

So I finally started this book, and it's not terrible. I agree with you Katy, I don't understand it either.. I don't care for how chopping the language is, and wording of some phrases. But that's a personal thing.

Finally got my hands on this one. My niece loved the series, so I'm hopeful.

I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews about this and I'll admit that it might not be the most most inventive story I've ever read, but it certainly isn't bad. (view spoiler)[It's still quite similar, IMO to The Giver, which I'm fairly positive, came out first, but it also continues to be reminiscent of The Delirium Trilogy with just a bit of The Divergent Trilogy thrown in for good measure, though I'm not sure which of these was released first or if perhaps they were released virtually simultaneously. Still, if you've not read read any of those, or if you just really like those types of stories (as I apparently do), have at it! (hide spoiler)] Just my 2¢

It's funny, it's not really bugging me too much, but I think the feeling that I know what's going to happen is making for slow going...maybe I'll be surprised. I never read many zombie books.

I finally finished! IDK if it's because I've been feeling extra sick or just 'cause I've read a lot of very similar books, but I just kept getting really bogged down/bored while reading this. Not the worst book ever, but I probably won't bother with the sequels.

It's taking me some time to get through it.. I realize I've been busy, but when I do get a chunk of time to breathe, I try and read it but can't get much more than 3 chapters down...

I can't make myself finish this book, it is so over done, with nothing really catching. I've decided that I will try this one again at a later date. I just won't tell my niece!

Maybe it's just me, but the book is a tad intriguing. I no longer find myself forcing myself to read. No it's not my most favorite, but it's not the worst I've read

I almost gave up too, but it got better toward the end (finally). Not really a fav though...I really give it about 2.5 stars. I really felt like it took a lot longer to read than it did! I was thinking, are you sure it hasn't been 3 and a half weeks (or forever)? But I was glad I finished though. The end is kind of worth all the junk in the middle, IMO. Plus, I needed it for my insanely sad WCRTMC total of a whopping 8 (unless I finish the other 90% of The Maze Runner by tonight...yeah, right!) =P

Anyway, to each her own! If you don't tell your niece, I won't, Char! I hope you continue to like it, Savannah!

I felt the same as most...boring, but not terrible. I kept reading and waiting for something big and exciting and I just felt like it never got there. Still haven't decided if I will read the others, but they definitely aren't at the top of my to read list.
