I think the series just gets better and better.
I enjoy the Mickey Haller books too.

Thanks Amanda... I plan to, I think they converge around The Brass Verdict. Harry Bosch also crosses with Terry McCaleb (2 books) which I plan to read as well.
My wife and I also read Connelly. We have just finished The Burning Room My review https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Good book.
Andrew wrote: "Today I started Our Lady Of Darkness, a good horror novel, with well described dark atmospheres."
It's on my the pile.
It's on my the pile.
It's not a thriller but it is definitely discussion-worthy. I just started Between the World and Me. not since Destiny Disrupted: A History of the World through Islamic Eyes have I read a book which shows me the world I know as seen through a different set of eyes.
I just finished the worst book I have EVER read
. I would have quit, but I needed to be prepared for my book club

I did warn you. Strangely enough, it made the Kirkus Reviews list of best crime fiction for 2015. But millions of people loved it.

I wasn't crazy about it either.... in fact, it was my first book by the author and I'm pretty sure I don't want to read anything else.

I disliked it so much that I won't even read a book where the blurb says "If you liked Girl on the Train, ..."

I just finished reading The Drop, the book that was made into James Gandolfini's last movie. I can still say that Dennis Lehane has never disappointed me. My review is here.
I'm sorry you hated it so much Nancy. I think people like tagging their books with it because so many people did give it high ratings.... I would just hate for you to miss out on a great book because of that.
I just finished Stay Close by Harlan Coben. It was so good I gave it five stars. Currently I'm reading Rage by Ken Shufeldt. So far I've been enjoying it.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I really liked the girl on the train. Of course, now that I think about it, the train was in Mexico, not England; the girl's name was Yolanda, not Rachel and the year was 1979, not 2015 so...never mind.

Actually, I rarely trust those sorts of things anyway. Recently there was a book I read that compared it to the work of Patricia Highsmith, and there was nothing at all Highsmith-like about it.

You're a riot.

Ahem? I seem to recall that they both had trains."
Well, actually I was referring to Hunters in the Dark: A Novel , which didn't have a train. It did have tuk-tuks, though.

I hated The Girl on the Train, too. One of those books I couldn't even finish. I was reminded once again why I hate to listen to the over-hyping of books. The Robert Crais books are the only ones that I can think of that lived up to all that I had heard.
Barbara wrote: "Reading Dry Bones
by Craig Johnson. A Walt Longmire mystery."You can't go wrong with Longmire.
I finished Tail Gait by Rita Mae Brown. In this 24th book in the series a history professor is killed and amateur sleuth 'Harry' Harristeen investigates. Too much history about the American Revolution, not enough mystery. And the talking pets were less fun than usual. 2 stars.
(I think I'm giving up on this series for good.)

I'm just about at the midpoint of Humber Boy B, which I received from the publisher, and I am ready to chuck it. Everyone seems to love it, but for me, it's another one of these (the red fish is me):
I just finished A Different Kind of Christmas. I was less than impressed with it. My review is here. Next up, a couple graphic novels followed by Landfall.
I finished Dry Bones by Craig Johnson. The excavation of a huge T.rex skeleton on the Wyoming ranch of elderly Cheyenne Danny Lone Elk coincides with Danny's suspicious death. Walt Longmire investigates. Plenty of favorite characters show up. 3 stars. My complete review:

I just finished The Ice Twins by S.K. Tremayne...it was a great thriller/mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now reading Before he finds her by Michael Kardos...just started it this morning, pretty good so far!
I'm just starting one of Alan Furst's Night Soldiers series, The Polish Officer and enjoying it already
Bill wrote: "I'm just starting one of Alan Furst's Night Soldiers series, The Polish Officer and enjoying it already"That is a series I would love to read through from the beginning.

I don't know that you have to Tom. I've read two now and starting my third and each is different in its own right, different characters, different parts of Europe.

That's what I heard so that by reading them in order you get sort of a history of Europe between the wars.
You might be right, Tom but I don't remember there being a difference in time with the books I've read.

Just started Cemetery Lake
; and about to start Behind Closed Doors
Just finished Thirteen Guests: A British Library Crime Classic
Here is my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Tom wrote: "Don't they all progress chronologically, though?"Not really. Only a couple are true sequels. They mostly inhabit the same small slice of time -- roughly 1935-41 -- in different parts of Europe. Many are set in 1938-1940 and some plow the same ground. Don't spend a lot of effort trying to figure out what order to read them in, because you won't gain much by doing it.
