Geena (rhipheus) | 1 comments When I was in the hospital in 2018, I found a fictional LA detective novel and read it, but I NEVER finished it. It was SO GOOD, but I only have a vague memory of it. It was an old paperback, and the cover was yellow. I slightly remember there being a open-top car, like an old-timey Cadillac, on the cover as well, but that could be wrong. It may have had palm trees on the cover, or like the skyline of LA. The only plot point I seem to remember is that the killer who the detective is chasing, drives up to a Cadillac-esque car at a red light, shoots the driver in the head, and flees. I know that's insanely vague and I probably won't get replies with a description like this, but I'm posting in hopes that SOMEONE knows even a tiny bit of what I'm talking about. I really want to be able to read it again.

Is it on this list?

There are also listopias for L.A. detective fiction:

Moloch | 342 comments The Dave Brandstetter series is about a detective in LA

He is gay, that's a major plot point, so maybe you can remember this and decide if it's a possibility or not

The books were published in the 1970s and 80s

Geena, that's a good start. Please add more plot details to the topic header (title). We have thousands of book requests.

Click the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, there's a "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)
