Docxen | 159 comments Lets try a group read but take our time a month or two give people time to find the book and read it with all the crazyness going on around us. So ideas , suggestions, topics, more/less time than a month or two?

I'm a fairly busy person. Two months works for me to start. I would like to say that if possible I would like to avoid series. I have a completist problem and don't need a series to start.

Doc. Start us off with an official suggestion. Maybe Wendy, Nicole, and the others will follow up with one

Docxen | 159 comments Ok this might sound dumb but i wouldn't mind doing a classic comparing contrasting from what we thought doing hs. Maybe mcbeth? anyone else if not i'm open to anything except romance.

A classic huh? I'll be honest, I would rather skip the Shakespeare. Would like to start with a sci fi or fantasy to try and draw in more Goliverse members. However, if everyone else would like it I can go with it. I will make an official pitch for "The Man in the High Castle" by Philip K. Dick. Heard they are shopping it for a series

Docxen | 159 comments wow cheapest i can find that is 20 bucks for nook.. i would do that for you rod but maybe anyone else we set a 9.99 limit ?

Didn't realize it was that much. Have you tried paperback swap.com? Good website for swapping books

Docxen | 159 comments Ok trying to find a book was hard found one i'm wanting to read soon how about "The Day The Magic Stopped" by Christopher Stasheff (Editor) maybe we can do a different thread for each story. 6.99 on nook/kindle .01 to buy a used copy.

I've heard good things about "The Martian" by Andy Weir. It's apparently about an astronaut who gets stranded on Mars.

If we can get a list of about seven books I will put a poll up on the facebook and we can let the vote go for a couple of weeks and then it's off the races and I will talk about it in a couple of months on GOL. In the book club section. Which I will add to the lineup.

message 13: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Cooper | 64 comments I'm not ready for mcbeth. Sounds too brainy for me. Maybe The Hobbit? With all the Hobbit flicks out it may be fun to do a compare/contrast thing, if we liked or disliked the changes? Or is it too soon?

I feel like McBeth begs for a multi-part bad impersonations theatre.

So someone compile the suggestions and let me know.

I love McBeth. Pretty sure I still have my copy from high school.

Great recommendations I have actually read all of those except any of the discworld novels, that series is just too vast for me. I would recommend the entire dresden series as well as the codex alera series they are great.

message 22: by Docxen (new)

Docxen | 159 comments good thing about discworld there are like series in the series ex first 2 or 3 is about a wizard...other books touch on each other but you don't have to like remember a lot to enjoy them.
