The Thorpes are so delightfully awful and self-serving. I'm thoroughly enjoying hating them both.

Also, John Thorpe thinks that the way to a woman's heart is to talk incessantly about his horses and his carriage (Ha) like a guy who brags in detail about his car to impress the ladies!

That's an excellent comparison, lol.
I love Mr Tilney's comparison of dancing and marriage. Catherine seems to be less appreciative, but she seems quite naive in her expectations of marriage.

I thought of the men I know who talk incessantly about their car, motorcycle or their sports team when I read about John Thorpe. They actually think they are fascinating to the opposite sex!

The vehicle may have changed. The need for certain men to boast about theirs hasn't.
