I remember this being a really sweet book. A girl is not fitting in at school, raised by only her father, and she chooses to wear baggy, dark clothing. She always sits alone.
At some point she discovers that she can create light in her cupped palms, and finds a boy at school who notices this, it turns out that he is a werewolf.
It's kind of a long-ish book.
She discovers that her mother, who left when she was younger, is actually a fairy, and has gone back home with no idea of the time that has passed since she has left. She is able to get to her mother through some sort of portal in the back yard.
I don't remember much more than this, and simply cannot find this anywhere.
