This is super vague. Almost too vague to post about. I remember a middle grade book from the late '80s or early '90s. No later than about '92. My memory is of a bright yellow paperback, like Scholastic or Dell Yearling or a similar style.
The cover had a girl skateboarding wearing deely-boppers on her head. She was holding a big doll, kind of like Hugga Bunch if anyone remembers those. I think the doll was magic and could either talk or read minds? Pretty sure the girl was named Carol-Ann because I remembered that name from Poltergeist. Overall, there was a very '80s feel to the book.
