Tori :) G. (ladyofthepigeons) | 7 comments I had read this book when I was very young, between the years of 2003 and 2006. However, I think this book is far older than that, possibly from the 70s, but take that with a grain of salt as I don't know for sure what the publishing date was. I just remember the art of the book following a blue and white color scheme.

The story was about a boy who was staying with his grandmother and was exploring the house. He ended up finding his grandfather's makeup either in an attic or a garage and gave himself a monster-makeover, with his face looking absolutely horrifying. He tried to go around scaring different people like the cat or another man, but it wasn't working. Sometime during his attempts to scare others, he had put on his grandmother's coat which gave him a very Dark Sidious vibe. (I think a part of this book was him contemplating the existence of monsters.) He then went under his grandmother's bed and waited to scare her (I remember there was a drawing of her screaming). Afterwards, he revealed himself, apologized, and washed off the makeup.

So this isn't the book, but thank you for helping me anyways! The book I'm looking for is much much older, I'm certain ~1970s.

One other detail I remembered about the story is the boy also put in fake fangs to really make himself frightening.
