I read the translated version of the book in China in elementary school in 2013-2016. I was scared badly, but the book was labeled as children friendly. I think a whole neighborhood of people moved into a grand hotel that was newly opened. Playing children found a guy dead in his house, the situation was gross. They were planning this guy's funeral, and the lawyer who was holding the funeral, the janitor of the building and someone else who "died" are all the same person as the guy who "died" in his house, and they guy didn't really die at all. Their last names are North, South, West and East. I don't know how they don't notice this giant giveaway, maybe that's why it's a children's thriller. Another detail is that the second sister of a random family (maybe her name is Bella, I really can't remember) loved her long hair, but her hair got burnt in a fire near the elevator? The random person who "died" "died" in the fire, too.
