Mia likes Gabe...so why does she think she can handle such a sterile relationship based on a contract that favors Gabe?

Gabe: (view spoiler)[ I don't think its safe for the author to justify Gabe's behavior re contracts with the divorce and the ex wife taking him money.
As a lawyer, I can tell you there are two sides to every divorce proceeding. Anyway, Gabe has a lot more money, so what if he had to go give dome to his ex-wife...he must have done something for her to want out.

Men like Gabe are never in need for companionship, so when their woman wants out, that tells me that Gabe crossed a big line for her to give up all of that. Let's face it, half of a mans wealth isn't all of it which is what you have access to when you stay.

I'd like to hear her side instead of the villanization of her by Gabe (hide spoiler)]

Not finished, but I can tell where it's headed. I'm only 40% in. But I've read crossfire, fifty shades and similar books. They are all the same.mi quit crossfire after book 2 as well. These love via sex contracts and asshole men/feeble women are a dime a dozen.
Though Mia isn't as weak as the status quo. She is a tad better and thus more palatable.

Erghh I didn't realise it was one of those books, I think I was the same with Sylvia Day, got to book 2 and finished reading, also thought 50 shades was terrible.
Can I guess the plot??
Plain ol Mary Jane, meets rich billionaire type gorgeous hunk, who for some reason can't stay away from her.......He likes a "different" kind of pleasure ...blah blah blah???? am I right?

Yep but she's his best friends little sister whom he had watch "grow up and blossom into this sexy irresistible woman" that he MUST possess. But he's a billionaire with lots of women after him so he needs the contract to protect his privacy and riches.

I will go ahead and read this book, but I may not finish it. I didn't get past book 1 of 50 Shades. I found it boring and awful. I might get to book 2 but highly doubtful.

I just don't understand how these type of books that degrade women can be so popular. It's not sexy but sick.

I thought the same thing! I'm about half way through and I don't feel bad for her at all, especially since her brother has pretty much handed her college life to her on a silver platter. she has returned the favor by not using her graduate degree and only working part-time as a waitress in a bakery/deli. Not to mention, she would stoop so low as to sleep with his best friend/business partner. If he wanted her to work at their firm, he would have offered it to her. However, I don't think that she would have accepted the job offer since she was still trying to figure out her life - really.....

I already took book 2 off my February Starter. I really do believe that it would be better. But I am sick of this kind of story. They are a dime a dozen. Besides, fifty shades movie comes out in February. I'd rather watch it than read this series

I finished this late last night. I just wanted to stay up and be done with it! I hate Gabe - what an asshat and Jace isn't much better. I mean how many brothers call their sister baby girl - that made my stomach churn. Mia isn't much better. At times, she reminds me of a kid - oh wait she basically is....

I am moving on and not looking back. This is one series that I am gladly marking off of my list! Pass the eye bleach please!!

LMAO! My sentiments exactly. I suppose the author thought she redeemed Gabe by making him "concerned" about Mia in the last 20% of the book.

I like how Gabe said "we didn't tell you because Mia wanted to keep it a secret"---which he did too.
Way to throw that one on Mia. Yes, she wanted to keep it a secret because her brothers would have said Hell No. We know what he is like.
But Gabe kept it a secret for his own purposes, not to protect Mia, but to get his way with her.

Gabe was a complete ass, Mia was a doormat and her brother wasn't much better, he went from Pissed, to marrying them off within 3 chapters haha.

I agree with both of you. This is one of the few series that I will not continue reading!
