Hi all! I have published several ebooks in the past and I have recently published my first paperback. I would love to get honest reviews from anyone interested in this book's niche non-fiction subject areas, Venice, Italy and/or Historic Photography.
Here's a blurb about my background from the back cover:
"Scott Marx is an educator, historian, and award-winning photographer. When not in the studio Scott can be found teaching photography and digital illustration at the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University. His specialized area of historical study is the city of Venice and its early photographers."
And here is the book description:
"Picturing Venice is one of the largest collections of historic photographs of the city ever published. More than 400 images provide a detailed visual record of life in Venice from 1850-1920.
Step back in time and explore the stunning architecture, awe-inspiring churches, bustling markets, and hidden canals. Look in on all aspects of domestic life and see how the lives of wealthy tourists contrasted sharply with those of local Venetians. See Venice in the 19th Century when it was the playground of the world’s painters, writers, and poets. Take a virtual walk through every neighborhood of the city and follow shopkeepers, fishermen, and gondoliers at their work.
Detailed maps of each area of the city show the exact location where every photograph was taken, providing added context and enabling the reader to compare each photograph with the same locations today."
The book contains the equivalent of about 30 pages of text, mostly in the form of image captions. Photographs make up the remaining 400 pages so it's not a long read text wise. I would be glad to provide reviewers with a PDF copy of the book.
