I'm trying to find a Young Adult Historical Fiction (maybe some elements that took some sort of whimsical liberties) book. On the cover, there was a Black boy dressed in nice French-royalty looking clothes, but he had an "iron mask" or "iron bit" on his face, which I remember being viscerally upsetting. I don't remember a lot of the plot, but I'm pretty sure the Black boy in question lived with a wealthy white family in Europe. I think I remember a picnic scene. I also remember there being a room that he was forbidden from entering, and that might've been why he got punished with the mask. I read this probably around 2010-2015, and it wasn't an old book then. I imagine it was written after 2000, but I don't know for sure. When I try to google it, the only thing that comes up is the Alexandre Dumas book related to the Three Musketeers, but it's definitely not that.
