Carolyn - 50 unread paperbacks in 2015
Awesome challenge Carolyn! Good luck with it...I'm sure you'll be fine AND have a lot of fun doing it:)
Thanks guys! I hope to read more but at the moment I only read paperbacks at home in bed or on the weekend.I'm also aiming to keep track of what I buy and not buy more than I read! We'll see how well that goes!

Haha! Good luck with that one Carolyn;)

What a cute little book case! Doesn't look like there's much room left though ... you'd better get cracking!
Carolyn can you give us a few examples of the gems sitting on that bookcase please? I can see a couple of Nesbos and a Robb, but my eyes aren't good enough for the rest!
Marina wrote: "What a cute little book case! Doesn't look like there's much room left though ... you'd better get cracking!"It is cute Marina. It only holds about half my tbr paperbacks ( the rest are under the bed!) but the idea was that I'd be encouraged to read them if I could see them!
Sorry the titles aren't clear. I'll try to get a better photo but it's a dark little corner! There are a couple of Nesbos ( The Snowman, The Redbreast & The Leopard), a couple of Rankins, a JD Robb, Lisa Gardner Live to Tell, Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, The Night Guest by Fiona McFarlane, Lionheart by Sharon Kay Penman, Heartstone by C J Sansom, Girt: The Unauthorised History of Australia by David Hunt, Perfect by Rachel Joyce, Bookmans Tale by Charlie Lovett and some Alexander McCall Smiths just to name a few! Some of them I've had for ages so I do need to get cracking!
My first up for this year is: First Impressions: A Novel of Old Books, Unexpected Love, and Jane Austen by Charlie Lovett.

Good luck with it! I have one shelf of unread books that I have been working my way through slowly in between kindle reads. The problem is that as I read them, I keep adding to them.

I totally agree...they seem to multiply!

Elaine wrote: "Good luck with it! I have one shelf of unread books that I have been working my way through slowly in between kindle reads. Two thirds of my reading is on the Kindle these days and I'm buying more paperbacks than I can read ( I acquire ebooks faster than I can read them too but that's another story....)
Brenda wrote: "Elaine wrote: "Good luck with it! I have one shelf of unread books that I have been working my way through slowly in between kindle reads. Here are my TBR shelves (yes, SHELVES) #1 (3 rows on each shelf as well as the ones shoved on top and hanging precariously on the edge)
Wow - I think we all have them, don't we!!! Why don't you post that in your challenge thread too Kiera - that's where you'll be taking some of your bingo books from isn't it?

Why don't you post that in your challenge thread too Kiera - that's where you'll be taking some of your bingo books from isn't it?"Lol, yes, ALL in fact. But I love owning books- having my very own library where I can basically pick anything for my mood. :) I don't tend to borrow books, because I don't always read them in time. And besides, apart from music and my pets, books are pretty much all I spend my spare money on.
I also have a couple of huge piles on my bedside table of series that I have in progress. Lol. My house is full of books. I think my non-reading husband feels like he is drowning in the written word. Lol
Haha Kiera! I think you have a worse problem than me! My bookshelf only looks neat because it's new and recently filled. I have at least as many unread books sitting in boxes and baskets around the house, under the bed and on my bedside table. My hubby also doesn't read much and gets cranky about my book collecting habit getting out of control!
1. First Impressions: A Novel of Old Books, Unexpected Love, and Jane Austen by Charlie Lovett 4★A great book to start the year with.

2. Dog Gone, Back Soon by Nick Trout 4★A fun, light summer read.

3. Solar by Ian McEwan 3.5 ★Not my favourite book from Ian McEwan

4. The Martian by Andy Weir 5★Loved this book - can see why it was the 2014 GR SciFi book of the year

Looking forward to the movie coming out later this year!

I'm very curious about this one. I'm not a fan of sci-fi, but this sounds interesting (and I adore Matt Damon).
In a way it's not extreme SciFi because it's all feasible. We could send people to Mars in the near future and a lot of the technology is already developed so most of what was described is possible. It's more a sort of futuristic Robinson Crusoe looking at what if we went to Mars and someone got stranded there, could they survive in that harsh environment until we could rescue them. You'll probably enjoy the movie :)

5. The Redbreast by Jo Nesbø 5★A great suspense novel. Much better than The Bat which I didn't like much!

6. The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy by Rachel Joyce 4★review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I didn't love it as much as The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry,but that was a very original book and this works very well as a companion novel to fill in the gaps and tell us more about Queenie, the woman Harold is walking to see.
7. The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide 4.5★review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A beautiful little gem of a book. Don't read it expecting much of a plot but read it for the beautiful, measured prose.
8. The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith 4★review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Enjoyed this more than the first in the series, the characters are developing nicely and the plot was interesting but felt it would have benefited from being shorter.
9. Making Money by Terry Pratchett 4★Number 36 in the Discworld series, doing to banking what Going Postal did for the post office! As usual very enjoyable!

I'm challenging myself to read 50 books from it in 2015 (including any new paperbacks that make their way onto it), fitting as many as possible into other challenges!
