SOLVED. Book that opens with the narrator telling you that the main character dies. [s]

So the narrator of this story is best friends with the other main character, and she reveals (pretty sure it’s a she) in the beginning that her friend (pretty certain a male) dies at the end of the story. She talks directly to the reader saying something like this isn’t a story meant to shock you or get you all depressed so that’s why I’m telling you this now. The bulk of the story is the events leading up to his death. She grapples a lot with guilt because their last conversation was an argument. I’m pretty sure that the name of the guy is actually in the title of the book, and obviously if I knew what it was I could find it pretty easily. I also remember the narrator talking quite a bit about how when they were kids they put their hands in wet cement and put their initials by it or something like that. I even think that that image is on the cover. I really liked this book but I read it around 2012ish? 2012-2014. I was like 14 years old then so I don’t remember the title but it was a good book.
