Stephanie A. | 376 comments I can't remember what tribe it was, but I am pretty sure it was a Southwestern tribe where war was an important way of life, which makes me think Apache -- I don't *think* it was a Plains tribe because I had a lot of books about them and I remember this one being different. The cover showed a Native American brave, possibly with war paint and/or feathers, with maybe chin-length hair, in almost a full body shot -- standing sideways but turning to face the reader.

This probably describes most Native American books but I almost certain the title had at least one of these words: Running, Crazy, Warrior, Horse, Apache, Chief, or War. I'm leaning hardest toward the first two.

Currently cannot remember a single thing about the plot except that it centered on one specific boy (probably training to be a warrior?) and that it was set at some point when they were still living their native way of life -- unsure if there were also conflicts with white people. I got it from Scholastic book orders in the mid to late 90s, and it was a fairly small-sized book, aimed at readers around 10-12 or so.

I scanned down the Apaches in Fact and Fiction list and didn't see it, but a few of those don't have cover images.

Stephanie, that's a good start but please add more plot details to the topic header (title). Click the small "edit" link after the header to update it. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, there's a "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

Stephanie A. | 376 comments Not trying to be snarky but honestly don't know what plot details I can add given that I only remember the cover, so it is probably better to just delete this thread. I'll find it on my own.

Stephanie A. | 376 comments To my great annoyance with myself for posting at all if I was going to keep looking on my own, I found the book with a relentless process-of-elimination search on WorldCat under the Apache keyword. It's Runs With Horses.

Glad you found your book, Stephanie. I updated the topic header to show you what I mean. More details in the header are more likely to result in someone recognizing your book, as many members don't read most of the discussions and only scan the headers.
