ABANDONED. YA Drama/ Thriller. Teenaged red-headed hacker trying to save her sister. Read around 2016-2018. Possible Spoilers ahead.

First thing's first. I read this book around 2016-2018. The book itself couldn't have been made any earlier than 2000. The story was set in the early 2000s (or even the 2010's) in America. The book is written in English. I am pretty sure that there's a second and third book. (I think there was one from the male love interest's side)

The story features a shy, easily angered red-headed teenaged girl who learned how to hack from a young age. She has a little sister, they are both orphans who end up being adopted by a two-parent household. The teen is reluctant to trust the father at first but comes around and ends up being nice to him. Her birth father is still alive (I don't think the mother is alive anymore) and he is also a hacker, he taught the protagonist. He's abusive, loud, rude, and overall a bad guy.

The original plot of the story was the protagonist was trying to protect and keep her sister safe from someone trying to kill/kidnap her. While this is happening, a girl at the protagonists' school has killed herself so the protagonist tries to investigate who's done this. In the end there is a final battle between her and the killer who ends up being her adopted father.
