I've been struggling to remember the name of a book I read as a kid. It would have been around at least 10 years ago and it wasn't a new book then. It was about a group of kids that started hanging out with a weird scientist guy that always looked up into the sky and they ended up traveling to this fantasy world of unicorns that wore bell slippers. But there was only one unicorn left and the scientist ended up cloning it and so the unicorn wasn't alone anymore. I know it sounds crazy but I read it and I'm going crazy trying to find it. I vaguely remember the author being a woman that later got into acting.
