It has been a LONG time since I read these books. Probably between 2012 and 2017. Definitely written in the 2000s. I think there were 3. I beleive in the first a diamond was stolen. In a later book they were trapped in a cave or passage. I remember one of the titles had flyer and/ruby in it. There was some sort of flying machine in the books.

The main characters were teens or young adults.

Small group (maybe 5-7). One male, one female were covered by the main plot points. They fall in love. I think maybe the female was a trapeze artist but I don't remember for sure.

I think most of it takes place in Europe. Again it has been awhile.

And you know what? I just found it! The first book is called The Diamond Thief and it is by Sharon Gosling. Turns out I just needed to look on Amazon! :)
