ABANDONED. Short Story about the man who invented time saving a teenage girl and an old man from their want of time

I read this maybe 2011-2014 time range.
It might have been a part of a collection of short stories with somewhat religious undertones, however it wasn't religious, if that makes sense.

So it's about a man who invented time, basically he was the first to start keeping track of it or something, he was part of the people/time period where the tower of Babylon was being built.
Jump to the future there's a teenage girl who thinks everything in her life is going wrong and she wants to/tries to commit suicide. The flip side is a wealthy elderly man who wants to freeze himself so he can be revived in the future. The time mans job is to show them that they should appreciate the time they have, not wanting more or less so he shows both of them futures with the results of their current mentalities. The old mans is more vivid in that he was some freak museum attraction piece for inhabitants of the future to witness.
In the end the wealthy man ends up doing something for the girl, maybe a scholarship. But it was short and wholesome.
