Maria wrote: "15 of 24[4] a book published by an indie press
House Rules by Jodi Picoult read June 17"
I followed the description on Wikipedia cause i had the same question: an indie press is defined as publishers that are not part of large conglomerates or multinational corporations.
Hope that answer helps you

Thank you. I figured as much but wasn't sure.
A book that is by or about someone from an indigenous culture (Native Americans, Aboriginals, etc.)Would "Things Fall Apart" count?
I just don't seem to understand the difference beteween tribes etc and indegeous. We don't have that word.

I think Things Fall Apart would count because it is about the native people of the location, not the British colonialists
I think "indigenous culture" is a hard term to really define. What groups are and are not included? Do they have to still speak their original languages etc. Do they have to still live in old time ways? Can they drive cars etc?
Well maybeOn one site I found that the definitions an Indigenous culture is it must be an original and minority culture that has been over taken by another majority culture. From the description of Things Fall Apart which is about Ibo people in Nigeria this would not be the case since Ibo is one of the majority groups in Nigeria and not fit this definition.
On another site I found that basically all the ethnic groups (roughly 250) in Nigeria would be considered Indigenous.
Sort of like are Norwegians considered the Indigenous people of Norway?
In the USA, Canada and Australia it's pretty easy to define the Indigenous Cultures. But I'm not sure about places like Africa, Europe or Asia. It would depend on the definition you want to use.
Hm no.. Norwegians is like saying England and englishmen
France - french
Norway - Norwegian
:)
But we do have a minority group in the north. They speak another language too.
