I enjoyed this month's pick for the group read. So unusual for the main investigator to be a quadriplegic directing the investigation from his bedroom but it somehow works well! I liked the relationship Rhyme develops with the rookie policewoman who he commandeers to be his legs and the way she develops into a good crime scene investigator during the book.
I also liked the way Rhyme was able to comandeer all the lab equipment and police personnel he needed so rapidly. Maybe it could happen in the 90s but today I suspect it would be much harder.
I'm doubtful the killer could have pulled off what he did for a job (as well as running around kidnapping and killing people) but am willing to suspend disbelief for a good ending!

I agree Carolyn, having the main investigator as a quadriplegic, and one battling a lot of inner demons at that, certainly gives this story a very unique spin. I recently read the second book The Coffin Dancer and it is just as good with Sachs and the other characters from this book coming back to deal with a very complex and clever assassin.
It was good wasn't it. It would have been amazing to read when it first came out. Just think you wouldn't know there was a sequel.
I must try it again one day. My husband has all of these and recommended them. So I tried this one and I just hated Lincoln Rhyme. I just could not read it
One day I will give it another go.
One day I will give it another go.

I'm guessing if you hated him then, you probably still would Phrynne!
