Yeah. But in the firs book, I hated her.

in the first 2 books same, but in the one i started really liking her, if she was like that for the whole series, like she was in the one, she would have been one of my favorite characters

I feel like the titles of the books in the series are huge spoilers...

So true. What is there left to spoil? Literally the main plot is written in them, everything else is side story.

I am not reading this book currently but I have read and I liked it. It's a fun trashy quick read. Like the bachelor isnt a good show but you still watch every episode and enjoy it. This is literally the bachelor in a dystopian setting. I honestly wish I could find something similar.

heyy! i wanted to ask y'all, your thoughts on the characters, especially on america and maxon

i'll be honest the only reason the selection is not a 5 star book for be is how annoying america was. but on the other hand i really loved maxon, he's such a sweetheart :)

message 61: by M (new)

M (solembumber) Ive never understood that. What makes America annoying? I don't see it at all, I liked her.

message 62: by Nicola (new)

Nicola Michelle (nicolamichelle) | 101 comments I liked America too 😅 Maybe I’m missing something! I’m about to start The Elite but I don’t mind her character!

Well... I don’t quite know how to explain it, but her indecisiveness, and attitude really bug me

message 64: by Lucy Tonks (new)

Lucy Tonks (the invisible life of a reader) | 636 comments Mod
yeah, her indecisiveness drove me mad too, but another thing that i found really annoying is how reckless she could be, she maybe some bad decision, that hurt people she cared about, that sometimes hurt her... and those are only a couple of things that come atm in my mind. but maybe it's just that i have a really different personality than america, and i would have done things differently

So what do you think about it?

message 66: by M (new)

M (solembumber) Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Americas character. I still don't see how thats different from any other YA character but at least I understand better now.

Who else felt like this book and series as a whole was the hunger games with romance? Not saying that THG doesn't have romance, but this was like THG when it's about romance

message 68: by M (new)

M (solembumber) I do see the similarities between this and THG thanks to the cast system and the selection game in it self can be like the hunger games game only you get to stay alive. But in general I don't see it. I see where you are coming from but to me theyre kind of insignificant because the stories them selves were utterly about different things even if you leave out romance hunger games games from them.

Eliza, well welcome to the club. Are you going to binge read other books in the series?
