Shelby (leisurelyreading) | 2 comments Hi, I'm a new librarian, and while separating authors using the Librarian's Manual as a guide to create a new profile (it was his first book) I found he needed 6 spaces in between his first and last name. I know that isn't a common issue, but is there an easy way to see how many authors with the same name there are? I feel like I definitely went about it the hard way. Apologies if this is addressed elsewhere, I couldn't find a sufficient answer after some searching.

This is the book Stuff You Should Know: An Incomplete Compendium of Mostly Interesting Things and Josh Clark was the author I was referencing. And this was the specific part of the Librarian's Manual I was using: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/....

Elizabeth (Alaska) Yes. There are two places you can access the similar authors list. You click "edit data" on the author profile; on the right side is a link to similar names. In addition, there is a link to similar names on any author combine page. The similar authors list is alphabetic and tells you how many spaces are in a specific profile.

Shelby (leisurelyreading) | 2 comments Thank you so much, that was exactly the help I needed

Elizabeth (Alaska) You're welcome. The similar authors list recently underwent a renovation making it much easier to work with.

Scott | 10545 comments Thanks from me as well. I always thought we just had to guess, which can get to be a pain when the author has 20 spaces in their name.
