Tom Olbert | 1445 comments Yours was quite grand in my opinion, Marianne. (That's high praise from someone who doesn't care much for present tense.)

Marianne (mariannegpetrino) | 436 comments Thank you, Tom. I poured my angst into it and the pain of my bruised fingers. I fell when I went to see my mom. I was on the ground in the rain for 5 minutes before I could even begin to pull myself up. I had three bloody fingers, a swollen palm, and a 250 mile drive back home the next day. I gritted my teeth and hauled off home after I helped her. Write what you know, they say.

I generally prefer third person past myself, but the story cries the way it wants to cry.

Paula | 1088 comments Wow, you're really going strong, Marianne! I won't say more until folks have a chance to read the stories, though. :)

'Sounds like you've had a very rough trip, Marianne, and bore it well. It's admirable you can channel it through your writing. I wish you the best going forward.

Marianne (mariannegpetrino) | 436 comments Tom, I never carry anything well, but I have support, and that makes all the difference :)

Thanks Marianne. My sister, who works in the cardiac ward where my brother was treated, said, "Only 5% of people who suffer this type of heart attack outside a hospital, survive." My brother is one lucky dog to have someone who saw him go down, knew what to do and was able to do for the 10 minutes needed until the ambulance got there.

J.J. Alleson (goodreadscomjjalleson) | 106 comments So glad your brother's been given a second lease of life Jot. Lady Luck was right there saying, 'I got you.' All positive energy to him, to you and your family.

I'll try and loop in on the next round.

Thanks everyone. He really is doing remarkably well. His strength has returned and there are no issues with his brain or organs. He'll have to wear an AED vest as a short term thing, but he is now expected to make a full recovery. :)

And on another note, Happy Birthday Justin

message 73: by Justin (new)

Justin Sewall | 1244 comments Oh hey! Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!

I got up and ran 10.25 miles (you know, for fun - LOL!), then had a good day with the family. I ordered Papa John's pizzas for dinner and savored the chocolate cheesecake my wife made for me. She managed to exactly replicate what my Mom always makes for my birthday, but since we're in quarantine... Anyway, 48 feels great! Thanks again everyone! I certainly enjoy reading all of your creative contributions!

Well, I've been running since the seventh grade. So I have a little history with the sport. :)
