SOLVED. Book about someone reading the Misunderstanding by Albert Camus. [s]

Hi everybody.
About 6 years ago I read a book in which the main character read an article in a newspaper that he found interesting. Later I found out that this article was basically the story of Misunderstanding by Albert Camus. To be more specific, two poor women (mother and daughter) run a hotel. One day the long-gone son visits the hotel without revealing his identity. spoilers ahead:

The two women seeing the money he carries, decide to kill him and get his money. The other day they realise the mistake they made.
