I loved that book, Simona! Usually I don't care for books which begin with knowing the ending and then flashback..."

I won't say that it's one of my favourites now, but it was a very pleasing :)

Simona (simona21) | 79 comments #11 His Last Bow by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

I really want to watch Mr. Holmes with Sir Ian McKellen but I want to wait for wintertime when I can cozy up to it in my blanket... because I am weird that way.

It's been quite long and I've forgotten a few books I read for this challenge, so I'm listing all the books I read for Classics challenge here:

Book #1: The War of the Worlds
Book #2: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Book #3:Dune
Book #4: Journey to the Center of the Earth
Book #5: The Thirty-Nine Steps
Book #6: The Affair at the Victory Ball: A Short Story
Book #7: The King of Clubs: A Short Story
Book #8: The Jewel Robbery at the Grand Metropolitan: A Short Story
Book #9: Around the World in 80 Days
Book #10: The Disappearance of Mr. Davenheim: A Short Story
Book #11: The Plymouth Express: A Hercule Poirot Short Story
Book #12: Greenmantle
Book #13: A Pocket Full of Rye

Out of there 13, 4 are short stories and are also a part of one huge book of some 1000 pages.
I'm going to pick up from here... BTW, @Dagny I was wondering if Manga Classics will be counted as classics?

I'm only vaguely familiar with Manga Classics. Haven't seen one, but have seen a couple of ads or reviews or something that brought..."

I agree about the steroid thing! They are Japanese illustrations of the famous Classics (Emma, Les Mis, The Scarlet Letter, Pride And Prejudice and Great Expectations.) So far I think only these are available.
I just read The Scarlet Letter and it was amazing! It was so good that I read it in one sitting only!
And in all it had like 312 pages of graphic... so yea, considering the dialogues it's pretty much a short story retelling only. I'm so glad that they can be counted here :D Saves me a lot of trouble.. hehe!

I'm not a Classics fan, but after reading The Scarlet Letter in Manga I'm actually feeling like getting the original story and reading it :)
SO if I'll get some time next month I can read these classic novels as well. ( Can The Scarlet Letter be counted as Historical?)

The first paragraph is the key: "Historical fiction presents a story set in the past, often during a significant time period. In historical fiction, the time period is an important part of the setting and often of the story itself.""

Yay! Thanks a lot Dagny! I'll definitely read this one and I'm right away downloading the illustrated one. After reading Manga it'll be quite interesting to read it :)

I tried the Librivox links but they as soon as I click on them it is saying "the links are banned" for both of them... Is there some other way i can get the audio for Scarlet Letter?

Thanks a bunch, Dagny :)

33! OMG, Dagny! You're totally on a roll... Well, that's why you're Prof. Dagny for me :D

BTW, I've created the new (and a much cooler) logo for this challenge. Please create a fresh thread for this challenge "RMFAO 2016 Classics Challenge" whenever you get some time (as you are the moderator of this challenge so it'll be best that you only write the intro to this challenge.) Then I'll put up the logo pic there so that we can start announcing the new books and use the logo for the blog posts :)
